Note: all tax credits mentioned here are non-refundable, meaning it will lower the taxes you owe but you won't receive the credit back as a tax refund and you can't apply any excess credit to future tax years.

30% up to $600 Energy Efficiency Federal Tax Credit

Federal government started offering this Tax Credit in January, 2023 and it will be in effect until December 31, 2032. Unlike deductions, which reduce the amount of your taxable income, tax credits provide a direct reduction in the amount of taxes you owe. You can claim the maximum annual tax credit every year that you make eligible improvements. You'll need to collect all your installation invoices and equipment receipts to support your claim. IRS Form 5695.

What Installations Qualify for this Credit ?

Tax Credit applies to Equipment, Labor costs & Fees for the following work:

  • 200Amp rated panelboard (breaker panel), subpanelboard or

  • 200Amp rated feeder(cable), branch circuit (dedicated circuit)

  • that installed with, and enables the installation and use of qualified energy efficiency improvements or qualified energy property (solar, EV charger, Energy-Star certified equipment like Mini-splits, heat pumps, central air conditioner, heat pump water heater, etc )

Electrical upgrades and other energy improvements does not have to be done by the same contractor or be on the same receipt.

Federal government started offering this Tax Credit in December, 2022 and it will be in effect until January 1, 2033. Unlike deductions, which reduce the amount of your taxable income, tax credits provide a direct reduction in the amount of taxes you owe. You'll need to collect all your installation invoices and equipment receipts to support your claim. IRS Form 8911.

How to qualify ?

Tax Credit applies to both Equipment, Labor cost & Fees.
